SUMMARY:Summerland Key SCUBAPRO + Mote Community Coral Reef Restoration Program
DESCRIPTION:Join SCUBAPRO and Mote Marine Laboratory as a citizen scientist and receive hands-on opportunities to make a positive difference in the health of our coral reef system. Spend a day learning about coral reef science\, helping fragment coral utilizing Mote’s science to create genetically identical duplicates that grow as much as 50x faster than a natural coral. In water activities may include maintaining Mote’s expansive in-water nurseries\, outplanting on designated reefs\, and earn a certification upon program completion. Activities will be dependent on water and weather conditions. \nAll scuba divers are welcome to join SCUBAPRO and Mote for these restoration events. \nPrice includes a coral restoration workshop\, training on coral fragmentation\, a 2-tank dive and a citizen science card. Note: Scuba equipment rental is not included but can be arranged through the dive shop if joining a group trip or directly with the dive operator if booking independently. Tanks and dive weight will be provided. \nAges: 15+ no exceptions; participants age 15-17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. All divers MUST have completed a dive within one year prior to the session date\, or the dive operator will require a refresher course. \nPlease email keysvolunteers@mote.org for questions.

DESCRIPTION:Join us as we review the badge workbook and explore the concepts with some demonstrations. Your registration confirmation email will contain your Environmental Science workbook and a guide containing a list of household materials to gather to be used in a few hands-on activities. Most merit badge requirements will be completed during this live\, interactive virtual workshop\, however\, Scouts will be required to complete one requirement on their own after the workshop and submit it for credit.
